Overview
Consumerfed was established in 1965 under the Trivandrum-Cochin Co-operative Societies Act 1951 as an apex body of the consumer co-operative societies in the state. In 1978, Consumerfed ventured into the retail sector with self-service Triveni Department Stores in the big cities like Thiruvananthapuram, and Kochi. Triveni division has grown since then and Triveni has become the hallmark of Consumerfed today. Triveni stores was started with an intention to give consumers easy access to high quality products at reasonable prices. The concept behind the name ‘Triveni’ is that it is a meeting place of three key attributes i.e., ‘Quality, Low Cost, and Reliability’.
At present there are 176 Triveni Super Markets, 47 Mobile Triveni Stores, and 34 Triveni Godowns are functioning at various urban and semi-urban areas across Kerala. In 1997, under the auspicious the State Department of Cooperatives, the Consumerfed expanded the operations to rural areas by opening about 1000 Neethi Stores in association with other cooperatives. Through Triveni stores, Kerala Government makes strong intervention to control price rise in the state and make essential goods available to all at controlled prices.
Triveni is now taking initiatives to transform their operations in way that is more acceptable in today technology driven world and deliver superior experience to customers.
